Project 2: Sense of Place
INSTRUCTIONS

PRACTICAL
Project 2: Sense of Place
1. Visual Research:

fig 1.1 sense of place art references from pinterest
2. Idea Exploration:
I wanted to work on something related to home as it is where my
heart belongs to. Wherever I go, no matter how far, I will
always come back. Also, home is sometimes the people. There are
people that feels like home, you feel safe just by simply being
around them. For me, those people are my family and my close
friends. Talking about the sense of place, I wanted to focus on
the places that feel like home to me.

fig 2.3 my current home
I decided to go with my current home since it is the present.
I moved here one day before I entered high school due to an
internal family drama. However, I think it was one of the best
decision we have ever made and I noticed a lot of growth ever
since. I became more aware and expressive with the things I
want to do and things that make me happy. Basically, I went
through a transition from being an innocent kid, a cheerful
teenager to a stressful adult haunted by deadlines here in
this house.
3. Idea Visualization:
I actually attempted on recording a timelapse for this painting
process but my camera ran out of battery in the middle of it so I
only have these 2 work in progress shots.

I did not paint it exactly the same as the original scene
since it gets dark already and I forgot to take any picture of
it lmao. Hence, I cannot really see the details at night so I
just simplify the scenery. I put the word farewell on it,
because I was really sad when doing this painting that I
literally cried after. Writing this makes me cringe so much
hahaha. I am okay now, no worries!

It is a very simple painting of the windows in my current home from the outside point of view. All the plants were planted by my mom, it is some kind of her hobby. They are all becoming so beautiful which makes it my favourite spot to take pictures of literally anything. Yep, I use them as a background when taking pictures of another objects most of the time hahahah. This area receives a direct sunlight as well so the lighting is pretty nice which I freaking loveee! If you see the original picture in fig 2.3, you may or may not notice that there is a kitchen at the right side of the windows where my mom is spending most of her time at. She loves to cook and she cooks the best food. This house means a lot to her and I can see that she is a lot happier after we moved in. It was one of the reason why I decided to paint this certain space. The best feeling in the whole world is to be able to see your loved ones happy, especially your mom. My mom is the love of my life, I aspire to be as strong and as multitalented as her when I grew up.
REFLECTION
Surprisingly, I kinda like how it turned out. I love warm tones and I think the colours here are very well blended comparing to the painting I did for project 1. The only thing disturbing is the word "farewell" on it, I lowkey wish I did not put it there hahahah. However, it is not that bad. It still looks good. If I am recreating this painting in the future, I might add more details on the plants.
